Here’s a nice Latin Jazz Backing Tracks Drum Play-Along.

Latin jazz is a genre of jazz with Latin American rhythms. Although musicians continually expand its parameters, the term Latin jazz is generally understood to have a more specific meaning than simply jazz from Latin America. Some Latin jazz typically employs rhythms that either have a direct analog in Africa, or exhibit an African influence. The two main categories of Latin jazz are:

  1. Afro-Cuban jazz—jazz rhythmically based on Cuban popular dance music, often with a rhythm section employing ostinato patterns and/or a clave.
  2. Afro-Brazilian jazz—includes bossa nova and jazz samba.

  1. I do not hear much jazz but I liked the music of the video. When I play guitar and I always like to hear some of all the musical styles to inspire myself.
You certainly saw the movie La La Land, that’s a great movie with a lot of beautiful jazz music.

  2. Love the idea of ‘karaoke for drummers’ 🙂
The great thing about it is that can be useful for any percussion instrument to play along, whether bongos, congas, cabasa, shaker etc etc etc. Also not restricted to one person.
Of course, if you really want to get to know your neighbours, get out the drum set 😉

    1. Hey Derek, Thanks for the comment. I like that “if you really want to get to know your neighbours, get out the drum set” – Although I use an electronic kit in my apartment so I don’t get evicted.

  3. I didn’t know there was such a thing as ‘Latin Jazz’ but nevertheless I love this Jazz Track, very relaxing. 🙂

  4. Greg hi, the video/sound clip is a great touch.

Not being a musician I cannot really make a critique or meaningful comment in a musical sense.

However, and I know this sounds crazy, but I am always trying to find music that is not too busy or loud, I am not a big fan of too much sound, I feel it invades my space, and though I know this is just backing track, I actually quite enjoyed.

    Thanks and kind regards

    Neil
